-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digital Receiver Line Checks Bulletin 3030 12/15/92 Copyright (C) 1992, Coastal Security Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The central station checks digital receiver lines at three hour intervals using an autodialer which is capable of sensing the receiver's handshake tone. The autodialer is programmed from a list of receiver telephone numbers which is maintained by the central station manager. Dealers who forward lines to the central station must specifically arrange with the central station manager to have the forwarded line periodically checked. There are several types of receiver lines: HOUSE A "house" receiver line is a telephone line owned by the central station which is connected directly to the line card on a receiver. DEALER A "dealer" receiver line is a telephone line owned by a dealer but located in the central station which is connected directly to the line card on a receiver. CF A call forwarding receiver line is a line which is installed at some location other than the central station and which is forwarded to a dealer or house line. Forwarding is established and can be changed by dialing feature codes (#72 and #73) on a telephone connected to the forwarded line. RCF A remote call forwarding receiver line is a line which exists only at Southern Bell's switching office. Forwarding is established and can be changed by placing an order with the Southern Bell business office. RCF lines cannot be forwarded to a local number or to a number which also has call forwarding features. RACF A remote access call forwarding (RACF) receiver line is a line which is installed at some location other than the central station and which is forwarded to a DEALER or HOUSE line. Forwarding is established and can be changed by calling a remote access number provided by Southern Bell. A secret PIN number is required to establish, re-establish or change forwarding. SWITCH A switched line is an 800 number which is switched to an ordinary phone line. The ordinary phone line can be a house or dealer line connected to an alarm receiver or it can be forwarded (CF or RACF) to one. When the central station autodialer fails to connect with an alarm receiver a signal is produced which must be handled by a central station operator. The signal will include the receiver telephone number and will identify the central station receiver and line card. CENTRAL STATION PROCEDURE: The central station operator will look at the receiver to see if the line card is busy. If not, the central station operator will call the receiver number. If the operator reaches the line card and hears the handshake tones, the event is cancelled. If the operator cannot reach the receiver or if the line card remains busy without producing valid alarms, the operator will notify the central station supervisor. The supervisor will check the receiver hardware. If faulty, the entire receiver will be replaced and all lines re-tested. Otherwise, the supervisor will isolate the exact telephone line which has failed. The corrective action taken will depend upon the type of line found to be faulty. 1. Faulty RCF lines are reported to Southern Bell repair and the dealer. 2. If an RACF line is faulty and the dealer has furnished the central station with the remote access number and PIN code the supervisor will immediately re-establish forwarding. Otherwise, the dealer will be notified. 3. If a CF line is faulty the dealer will be notified. 4. A faulty dealer line is reported to Southern Bell repair and the dealer is immediately notified. 5. A faulty house line is reported to Southern Bell special services. If the repair cannot be completed in less than two hours, the supervisor will try to arrange for a temporary receiver line to be available for forwarded lines. At this point all affected dealers will be notified.
