-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remote Access Data Entry via InterNet Bulletin 3005 06/22/01 Copyright (C) 1999, Coastal Security Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Central One dealers may perform data entry via InterNet remote access. Before making changes to the database be sure to read the "BASIC DATA ENTRY FOR DEALERS" manual. This manual is typically provided to the dealer at the time the first read/write internet access password is established. For changes and modifications to existing accounts please read bulletin 3000. This bulletin addresses the creation of new accounts. The safest and simplest way to put on new accounts involves using alarm control panels that transmit signals in the Ademco Contact ID (also called Point ID) format. The central station computer database is complex and requires the assistance of the central one data entry staff before signal definitions or open/close schedules are entered by the dealer. If contact id cannot be used but panels can be installed using a standardized signaling pattern then the data entry department can set up a template account for standard signals. The dealer can easily add new accounts via remote access that simply refer to the template. The training of dealers by central station data entry personnel is done on a customized basis depending upon what the dealer wants to be able to do. If the dealer merely wants to change phone numbers and contact lists (simple, intuitive changes) the best method is for the trainer to walk the dealer through the process over the telephone. If the dealer wishes to make complex changes involving the set up of custom procedures for various signals received then the dealer should come to the central station facility for training. It is important for the dealer not to make changes to the database without adequate training. Be sure to download our training manuals and to check for periodic updates. From our home page www.centralone.com click dealer access then download the manual of your choice.
