Alarm Traffic Manager
Version 3

Central One’s proprietary Alarm Traffic Manager software is going to experience a major revision over the next two years.  Fundamental changes reflecting a redesign of the core include:

  1. Version 3 software will run on the Microsoft Dot Net Framework as managed code.  Say goodbye to DOS.
  2. Microsoft SQL server will provide core database management, indexing and logging functionality.  Say goodbye to Btrieve.
  3. The remote access and CSFM download software will be replaced.  Remote data entry, editing and reporting will be accomplished through a new Windows software interface that communicates in real time with Central One using state of the art XML web services technology.  All dealers will need a fast, reliable internet connection.  Say goodbye to Citrix.
  4. All of the existing alarm handling options will be supported and expanded to include additional options.  Some of the new options under consideration include:
    1. Subscribers with interactive devices will be able to verify or cancel an alarm electronically wherever they are.
    2. Call lists can be partitioned and grouped so that one member of each group is notified or so that some persons are called before and others after a dispatch.  Notification of more than one callout is expected to be a premium service.
    3. Guard stations can be interactively linked via high speed internet connection to instantly receive alarms for the community or facility they protect.  Guards may be the primary, secondary or concurrent alarm responders and their response will be logged at Central One in the subscriber's alarm history.
  5. Subscriber internet access will be enhanced to include editing if permitted by the dealer.

The dispatch program will be changed to a totally new concept.  Presently when an alarm is received the dispatcher is presented with complete information including all of the steps that may need to be taken to complete the alarm.  The new dispatch program will parcel out one step at a time.  The gains in efficiency and the elimination of opportunity for error are substantial.  Special instructions will now be applicable to individual steps as well as to specific alarm types, partitions, zones, date ranges, etc.
